Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) is the largest oil spill response organization in the US. MSRC is a non-profit organization, formed in 1990 to offer oil spill response services and mitigate damage to the environment.
We are currently seeking a Region Controller to support the Atlantic/Interior Region in our Edison, NJ location. This is a mid-level career position. Reporting to the Region Vice President with indirect reporting to the Corporate Controller, this position is responsible for preparation and review of financial reports, management of financial aspects including strategic investment budget, leased vehicle program, and billable events. The position also supports personnel in their understanding and adherence to budget concepts and procedures and interfaces and supports internal audit requests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the annual operating and capital budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
- Process the Region's financial transactions on a timely basis, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Review expense reports and vendor invoices with the ability to identify cost trends and savings opportunities.
- Preparing invoices for billing, collections – accounts receivable & accounts payable.
- Assist Corporate Finance with development of policies and procedures for the accounting department.
- Interact and respond to requests for information from internal and external auditors.
- Participate in Leadership Management meetings and provide support and training to Managers and Supervisors on budget concepts and financial policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or an equivalent.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience performing accounting and financial analysis.
- Demonstrated experience preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in accounting systems; Great Plains, Quickbooks and Ariett a plus.
- Advance Excel skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with external and internal customers.
- In the event of an emergency spill response, the ability to promptly support the work is required.
- Occasional travel to vessels and other locations that MSRC requires to fulfill the job responsibilities, approximately 15% of time.
