Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Response Manager (RM) position based in Long Beach, California (other California locations may be considered based on business needs). The Response Manager is a key member of the Offshore Division Leadership Team and reports directly to the Vice President, Offshore Operations.

Key Responsibilities:  
  • Manage assigned site and vessel resources, equipment, personnel, and contractors to ensure 24/7/365 readiness for spill or emergency response. 
  • Provide leadership to direct reports and Offshore employees by building operational excellence and ensuring safety protocols are compliant, understood, and consistently followed. 
  • Direct the use of spill response resources during spill events, drills, and training, with appropriate attention to personnel safety, customer satisfaction, budget limitations, and efficient use of staff, equipment, and contracted services. 
  • Oversee FRV crew licensing, training, and scheduling to ensure FRVs are fully crewed at all times. 
  • Implement and support MSRC contracts, maintenance services, response support, and Vessels of Opportunity, ensuring technical needs are met, performance is effectively monitored, and costs are managed within established budgets. 
  • Develop relationships with customers, federal, state, and local agencies, contracted Spill Team Area Responders (STARs) and other contractors, and provide spill response subject matter expertise.  
  • Support and monitor the budget process for assigned sites. 
  • Foster training and development opportunities for employees within the assigned span of control. 
  • Perform additional duties and support special projects as assigned. 

Position Requirements and Qualifications:   
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a marine or environmental discipline, or equivalent experience.  
  • Five or more years of progressive leadership experience with demonstrated interpersonal skills. 
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with oil spill response management and mariner vessel management.   
  • Ability to support MSRC’s mission, including returning to work within two hours for an emergency response. 
  • Competent and comfortable communicating in all modes and across all organizational levels. 
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint. 
  • Possess or obtain a passport, Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), and driver’s license. 
  • Successful completion of background check, pre-employment drug screen, and medical exam.   
  • Participation in MSRC’s Drug and Alcohol Program and Medical Surveillance Program.
  • Travel as required by business needs. 

Salary Range: $87,880.00 to $180,107.20 (annual)

Compensation for this position may vary from other locations where the position may be available.
