Marine Spill Response Corporation is currently seeking a Customer and Government Relations Advisor to join our team in Houston, TX. The Advisor will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating customer service outreach and problem solving. The Advisor will seek to identify customer leads and be the first point of contact in problem identification. The Advisor will regularly work with senior management to develop customer interaction efforts that not only target issue resolution, but strengthen ongoing relations. Efforts will include tracking key performance measurements across the company. The Advisor will build expertise in relevant state and federal regulation while establishing and maintaining relationships with government stakeholders.


Primary Responsibilities 

  • Identify and target strategic customer relations and marketing efforts
  • Maintain and build customer relationships and satisfaction
  • Plan, organize and participate in external customer meetings
  • Oversee cross functional work targeted to resolve customer issues 
  • Proactively develop relationships with customers and government stakeholders
  • Attend and contribute to meetings/functions while exhibiting and promoting MSRC
  • Support regional outreach including direct engagement with state and local federal regulators
  • Establish and maintain database incorporating issue identification, development, and ultimate regulatory decision-making
  • Establish and maintain customer and stakeholder relations database, incorporating best practices, customer outreach, and issue identification and resolution
  • Develop and manage public and customer communications as required
  • Other objectives as assigned by management
  • Travel required as needed


Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor degree required, preferably in business or government affairs
  • Minimum of five years in oil spill response and/or related activities
  • Broad knowledge of oil spill response regulation
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously and proactively identify and investigate customer issues and develop sound, thoughtful analyses for their resolution
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, identify and resolve problems and develop realistic action plans
  • Must have skills to develop collaborative, team-oriented approaches supporting best practices in all aspects of core requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug screen
