Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) has an opening for a Field Network System Specialist (FNSS) in Edison, New Jersey, who is ready to start their career with the leader in the oil spill response industry. 

During day-to-day business operations, the FNSS will install, operate, and maintain computer hardware, software, Cisco Call Manager, Unity Voice Mail and Presence servers, VoIP phone systems and associated LAN/WAN equipment.  The position will also be trained to program, operate, and maintain both radio and satellite equipment. The FNSS provides leadership in the networking discipline and provides training to other members of the team.

During emergency response operations, the FNSS will be required to set up, operate, and maintain the Emergency Communications Package (ECP). This includes the set up and operation of the satellite system, voice and data circuits, computer and telephone networks (including wireless networking), and radio networks. Additional response assignments may include operating the communications command center of an Oil Spill Response Vessel (OSRV).

Skills and Requirements

Hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching and VoIP (current CCNA or advanced certification preferred).
Experience in a multidiscipline Information System Department, including network administration and computer data infrastructure support.
Installation experience with network services, such as DSL, T1, or Ethernet over copper.
The successful candidate will possess a High School diploma, and 4+ years of relevant practical field experience.

Requirements Specific to Oil Spill Response

2-hour recall to travel to emergency response locations as directed by MSRC.
Be subject to MSRC’s Medical Surveillance Program and random drug screens.
Must meet the physical requirements of the job, including the ability to lift 35 pounds

Physical Requirements Include, Among Others

•  Requires standing, lifting up to 45lbs.
•  Requires the ability to wear the personal protective equipment prescribed by posted signs and written instruction.
•  Able to work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain or dry environments.
•  Ability to perform work in various sea conditions, under all environmental conditions, often wet/oily decks.
